Horn Diffraction Control

Hi folks, I have a pair of 846B Valencia that have had the crossover caps upgraded and the CDs replaced with GPA 902. I think that they finally sound as the designers intended. Or, in others words, pretty freakin awesome! Night and day compared to original.

I?m trying to decide if it is worthwhile adding fibreglass or foam around the horn end bell. As they stand, they are pretty hard to fault to my ears.

Any of you have experience or thoughts?

I've been thinking of trying this open-cell foam available from Home Depot Canada.

I've thought of buying some and slicing it length-ways and then installing around the edges of my radial horn.

Controlling early reflections does help stabilize imaging. I already have 2'x4' acoustic foam panels( standing on the floor + then ) butted up to the outside edges of my diy horn-speakers ( looks like crap but sure promotes solid imaging ).

I've used filter foam for portable air conditioners. most of it is 1/4 to 3/8 thick, the 3/8 is what I used. Didn't do real tests, just sounded better to me.
